With all the pieces in place, the seal began to glow.

It glowed bright orange, eventually falling off the gate, hitting the ground with a clang.

The gate began to swing open slowly, the sound of clockwork making it move.

"Be ready." Skarner grunted.

"Oh, what're we being ready for?" Red asked, wary.

"Uh... stuff." Gardenia shrugged. "Hell if I know."

"Anything." Skarner grunted.

When the doors opened completely, the ticking stopped. A large gust of wind blew from the temple.

"Let's finish this." Skarner growled, running in, and was followed by Shocker, flying low.

What they saw was a wide, open area, made of cobblestone, and red walls. The open area was full of shadow creatures, eager to bite. The Dark Master stood on top of the main temple building, looking down on them. Next to him, two on each side, were the kids, locked in shadow cages.

"Visitors, hm? Dispose of them." The Dark Master spat, as the beasts turned to the group. And they charged.

Skarner reacted to this with a charge of his own, bashing through whatever was in his way.

Shocker had the more agile approach, sending lighting towards select beasts he flew over.

Red shifted into his monster form, slicing and cutting at anything that he could reach.

Amethyst fought with fire, naturally, scorching beasts that were in range with violet flame.

Augustus and Hazel were sort of working together, attacking with vines in some sort of in-sync pattern.

Gardenia had struggled to bring Distortion, who wasn't a fighter, to safety in shadow. But she ended up tackled by one of the monsters, and by the time she'd gotten out of the way, the strange boy was gone. Probably dead. An agonized scream confirmed her suspicions mere seconds later. "... D-Dammit..."

The scream fueled Skarner's rage even more, bashing multiple beasts into the hard cobble.

The cries of the kids also fueled this. Clara, like usual, was crying.

Paul was silent, Stanley watching with hope, while Ash shivered.

Shocker took down a large group of the beasts with a large thunderbolt. However, he was shot out of the sky with a shadow orb.

He hit the ground, rolling into a stone wall. Nobody was sure if he was dead or not.

Skarner rushed to where he'd crashed, deciding to believe he was still alive and not let the beasts get him.

The fight went on. There wasn't time for people to notice if their friends had fallen. They'd risk their own necks.

"T-This is getting really bad..." Hazel murmured, barely audible over a beast's shriek as it was impaled.

"I know." Augustus replied quietly, throwing one creature into another.

The creature Amethyst had seen in that world of darkness was on the temple building, where the kids were being held in cages. She watched Amethyst for a while, before grinning that creepy grin. The area flashed black, and the cages holding the children were broken.

The Dark Master noticed they were free. He closed his eyes, and a shadow wave went over the whole area.

The temple began to re-arrange.

The main group was transported to one side of a glass wall.

The kids on the other.

The shadow creatures jumped at the glass, trying to smash it.

Stanley grabbed one, and cracked its spine with his knee. "You guys get him, we'll handle these things."

The kids fought pretty well with each other, using teamwork and callouts.

But that wasn't the main problem.

Turning away from the glass, the group was faced with DM.

The monster Amethyst had seen earlier was gone, too.

"... What the hell...? Where'd it go...?" Amethyst murmured, looking around.

"We have bigger problems." Red whispered, bladed arms ready, poised to strike.

"Here at last. Took you long enough. I'll dispose of you, and the world will be MINE." The Dark Master laughed.

Skarner charged at him, roaring.

DM simply vanished to the side, and a shadow orb appeared in his hand. He smashed it into Skarner, then used it to pick him up and throw him at a cobblestone wall, which he crashed through. Most of the wall, and whatever it was supporting, crashed down onto Skarner, lost in the rubble.

"Now that he's out of the way.." DM hissed, sending shadow orbs at the group. "And Gardenia, I didn't forget about you. Notice how there aren't any shadows in this area..."

Gardenia, of course, did notice. It was the first thing she took note of. "... Well, I'm useless." She muttered, stepping out of the way of a shadowy orb.

As everyone else scrambled to dodge the attack, Red thought he saw a chance to strike. The Dark Master was a little busy attacking with orbs, and Red was fast. He saw himself as fast, at least. So, blades out, he sprinted at DM, not holding back.

A few orbs flew past Red, and they eventually stopped. DM just grinned, moving his hand up, like he was summoning something from the floor. A stone flew up beneath Red, sending him flying towards DM. DM then grabbed him by the neck, hissed and threw him into the floor.

On the other side of the glass, the kids seemed to be doing well, although they looked petrified.

Faintly, a very, very faint outline of the monster Amethyst had seen appeared, and monsters seemed to die with nobody doing anything to them. Although, the outline was always near the monsters when they died.

Red shrieked, surprised and hurt. He shakily got to his feet. "O-Ow..."

Amethyst, of course, noticed. Whatever that thing was, at least it appeared to be on their side. That counted for something.

DM didn't stop his attack there. Shadow claws came out of the ground, grabbing Red and smashing him into a wall repeatedly, then throwing him at the glass. It didn't break but cracked slightly.

Next, he focused Gardenia. He vanished, appearing behind her. His claw-like hands slashed at her back, and then vanished again, appearing at the other end of the room, sending shadow orbs at her and Amethyst.

Red fell, dazed, and didn't get back up.

Gardenia did't have the time to react, let alone dodge. The pain, though, that was instant. She whirled around. "Oh, dammit..." She on instinct tried to disappear. And when that didn't work, the orbs smashed into her, and she was sent flying into a wall.

Amethyst, luckily, had a bit more time to react. She jumped out of the way, sending violet fire to DM in retaliation.

DM chuckled, a shadow aura redirecting her flames toward Gardenia. "Why don't we fight claw and claw, Amethyst?"

Gardenia didn't have the time to dodge that, either. She was burned, horribly, and slumped against the wall in defeat.

Amethyst, trying to ignore how completely defeated everyone else was and eliminate any fear, managed a nod. "F-Fine. I'll kill you either way..."

"Oh, what bravery." DM spat, teleporting next to her, slashing a claw to her stomach. He grabbed her wrists, smashing her into the glass. "You'll join that idiot Crack in death!"

Amethyst forced herself to get up. Normally, this would be her breaking point. But not now. Not this time. "SHUT THE HELL UP!" She lunged at DM, hands blazing furiously, bigger and brighter than what was probably safe.

DM was quite surprised by this, stepping back before grinning. he vanished behind her, kicking her in the back so she fell to the floor. He grabbed her by the neck, his other arm a giant spike, aimed straight at her head. "It's sad, that you get no last words." He raised his arm backwards, ready to kill.

That was when a familiar shout echoed around the temple.

"STOP!"

Amethyst tried to use the suddenness of the voice to her advtanage, hands igniting once more and trying to pry herself free.
